The team at Horowhenua Libraries are pleased to welcome you back to our libraries from Monday 18 May. We've missed you!

We're delighted that Level 2 means we can slowly start to reintroduce some of the services you love at your library. Things will be a little different, as both our community and our team’s safety is paramount.

Opening hours

Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom (Foxton) will be open from 10am-4pm, seven days a week. Millside Café at Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom will open from Thursday to Saturday.

Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō opening hours will be 10am – 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday.
(Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō will be closed on the weekends until further notice.)

Shannon Library will remain closed until further notice.

Things you need to know about your visit

Please return items in the slots outside Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō and Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom Libraries.

There will be one entry and one exit point at each of our facilities:

  • Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō main carpark entrance.
  • Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom Wharf Street entrance.

To help everyone keep safe and well, you must:

  • Stay home if you, or anyone in your bubble is unwell.
  • Sign in, as we will be following all contact tracing guidelines set out by the government.
  • Use the hand sanitiser provided.
  • Follow the 2 metre physical distancing rule.

What else should you expect?

  • Maximum of 100 people at one time to maintain safe physical distancing. 
  • Children under 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult or guardian.
  • Public computers will be unavailable until further notice.
  • There will be no newspapers.
  • Wi-Fi is available but users must follow our strict time limits and are required to observe the 2 metre physical distance from other people. Wi-Fi is also available outside of the facility.
  • No library programmes will be running during Alert Level 2, but please visit our social media pages to find out about our online programmes and services.

Homelink service

For people who are in isolation or physically unable to visit the library, we have a free service called Homelink. You can let us know what genre and format you're interested in so we can hand-pick the best materials to be delivered to you. We will then select and deliver these materials to your door.
